True freshman Shawnkel Knight-Goff, a Louisville native, has left the University of Kentucky football program.
Mark Stoops confirmed the departure yesterday explaining that Knight-Goff “lost the motivation and desire to play the game.”
Here are Stoops’ comments from yesterday:
“Shawnkel checked out, maybe two or three weeks ago or so,” Stoops explained on Monday. “He told me is he was very much not interested in playing football anymore. He lost the motivation and desire to play the game.
“I really like Shawnkel. He’s a great person, really good kid, great family. I want him to be successful. He told me he just wanted to go to school. I have to try to help motivate him in that area too, but he was not interested in pursuing football anymore.”
