Former Kentucky offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson will reportedly be returning to Commonwealth Stadium next season in the same role at Southern Miss.
The news was first reported by Dan Wolken of USA Today:
Former Kentucky OC Shannon Dawson expected to join Southern Miss staff as OC, per source.

Excerpt from Wolken’s article:
Former Kentucky offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson is expected to become the new offensive coordinator at Southern Miss, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the school had not announced the move.
Dawson was fired in December amid a staff overhaul after Kentucky’s disappointing 5-7 season. During his one year under Mark Stoops, Kentucky’s running game improved but scored 4.5 fewer points per game than in 2014.
It would be the worst case scenario for the UK football program if Dawson’s offense scores a bunch of points and knocks off the Wildcats to open next season.
On a bright note:
Shannon Dawson named OC at Southern Miss, UK’s first opponent. Heads up, DJ Eliot: on first & goal from the 1, they’re throwing it.
