Rupp Arena’s infamous sound system, Big Bertha, is serving its last season for Kentucky basketball.
Big Bertha, which was implemented in 1976, will be removed and replaced prior to the 2016-17 season.

With the many technical upgrades scheduled for Rupp Arena in the near future, the 2015-2016 season will be the last for the iconic “Big Bertha” speaker cluster which hangs in the center of the arena. Bertha has hung in the rafters of Rupp Arena since its opening in October 1976. Some people love her. Some people hate her. But all can agree on the history she has witnessed over the past 40 years. She has kept a watchful eye over thousands of events at Rupp Arena.
