Rupp Arena is banning smoking beginning in October.
The Lexington Center announced it will no longer have designated smoking areas outside the arena.
Here are more details from WKYT.com:
The Lexington Center announced it will no longer have a designated smoking area as demolition will begin on the west side of the arena. Smoking inside the arena was already banned.
Lexington Center President and CEO Bill Owen says this is a policy other major arenas in the region already adopted.
“Removing designated smoking areas has been a growing trend for live sports and entertainment venues. The Yum Center in Louisville and US Bank Arena in Cincinnati have similar policies in effect: All guests are prohibited from smoking (including electronic cigarettes, vaporizers or similar devices) inside or outside the arena within the security perimeter at any time.”
