Rick Pitino Says Louisville Had the Best Recruiting Class in College Basketball This Season

Rick Pitino believes the Louisville Cardinals had the best recruiting class in the nation this season if his two graduate transfers are included.

The Cardinals class consisted of graduate transfers Damion Lee and Trey Lewis along with freshmen Deng Adel, Ray Spalding and Donovan Mitchell.

Check out Pitino’s comments:

On if the outside attention will have a galvanizing effect on Louisville: I think, you just mentioned the rankings — Louisville’s always going to be ranked in the beginning of the season and then you just look and we weren’t even ranked. I think people are looking at that and they’re not really studying the team. We had the best recruiting class, I think, in college basketball, as far as I’m concerned. If you include Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, plus Deng Adel, Ray Spalding and Donovan Mitchell — Kentucky taught me how to get into the one-and-dones, and I’m doing it now, except I’m waiting for fifth-year guys instead of high school kids.
