Iona head coach Rick Pitino has been named MAAC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Pitino led the Gaels to a 17-3 league record and regular season championship. Iona is 24-7 overall heading into the MAAC Tournament.
Speculation around college basketball has Pitino heading off to bigger waters after this season. Some think he will be the next head coach at St. John’s or Georgetown.
