Eric Crawford of WDRB.com reported earlier today that Louisville quarterback Will Gardner will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury he suffered Saturday night against Boston College.

Here is an excerpt:

University of Louisville quarterback Will Gardner is out for the season with a left knee injury that will require surgery, the school announced Tuesday.

Gardner re-injured the knee while making a pass late in the first half against Boston College on Saturday.

He was 5-2 as a starter for the Cardinals, throwing for 1,669 yards and 12 touchdowns, with only three interceptions.

“It is really unfortunate and disappointing for Will because of how hard he has worked and how respected he is in the locker room,” Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said. “Will will continue to be an integral part of our program moving forward because of his leadership he has displayed and the respect he has in the locker room.“

A release from U of L said Gardner would require surgery “sometime in the next several weeks” but that a date had not yet been set.
