Reed Sheppard took a break from preparing for the NBA Draft to atten the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
Sheppard spoke to several members of the media during the day. The soon-to-be lottery pick predicted a Derby win by Mystik Dan.
He also explained his tough choice to leave UK and focus on the NBA.
“I’m very excited. It was tough, it was a tough decision, for sure,” Sheppard told WAVE3’s Kendrick Haskins. “Growing up, it was always a dream to play at Kentucky. Being able to do that this year and not really knowing what to expect, coming in wanting to do whatever it took to win and just have fun with it like my mom and dad were both saying. But at the end of the day, it was also a dream to play in the NBA.”

One of my favorite parts of Kentucky Derby 150 was the opportunity to talk to the Sheppard family! Awesome players on the court, but even better people off the court!!! pic.twitter.com/0RP8NeIVmv
