Huntington Prep’s Thomas Bryant visited Kentucky unofficially this past weekend and it sounds like it was nothing but a vacation for the class of 2015 center.
His mother, Linda, spoke with Syracuse.com and said that Kentucky isn’t in the mix for her son.
Linda said that Bryant’s realistic list of potential teams has been trimmed to two, and Bryant’s unofficial visit to Kentucky over the weekend was nothing more than a good time with two high school teammates.
“Really it’s down to two,” Linda Bryant said. “Syracuse and Indiana. And it might be down to one soon. Thomas has always told me that Syracuse was the leader.”
She also doesn’t sound like a fan of the Kentucky platoon system.
Bryant doesn’t have a Kentucky offer, but even if one eventually comes, Linda Bryant said she doesn’t see it changing the recruiting equation.
Kentucky already has a commitment from five-star post player Skal Labissierie and, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal, is recruiting an array of five-star post players that includes Cheick Diallo, Stephen Zimmerman, Carlton Bragg, Ivan Rabb and Caleb Swanigan.
“You have to give kudos to the man (Calipari) for being able to recruit like that,” Linda said. “But I don’t think that’s the right place for my son. He’s a young man who is still learning the game. He needs to be focused on that, not worrying which platoon he is on.”
Hey, Kentucky isn’t for everybody.
