Raptors 905 Trades Playing Rights to Ashton Hagans to Rio Grande Valley

Raptors 905 traded the returning player rights to former Kentucky guard Ashton Hagans to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday.

Hagans played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League.

Last season, he averaged 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.8 steal for Raptors 905.

Following the conclusion of the draft, Raptors 905 agreed to trade the returning player rights to Ashton Hagans to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In exchange, RGV traded its second-round pick in the 2023 NBA G League Draft. This trade is not subject to a physical.

Most recently, Hagans (6-3, 190lbs) played in four games with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2022 NBA Summer League where he averaged 2.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals in 15.5 minutes.

He spent the 2021-22 campaign with the Raptors where he averaged 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 27.4 minutes in 27 games played. During the 2020-21 season the Georgia native appeared in two games with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Before declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft, Hagans spent his freshman and sophomore years of college playing for the Kentucky Wildcats. He finished his career with 67 games played and averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 30.6 minutes. In 2019 he was recognized as the South Eastern Conference (SEC) Defensive Player of the Year.
