Tonight is the night Kentucky goes for #9. Kentucky (29-10) and Connecticut (31-8) will square off tonight in Dallas for the right to be called National Champions. Kentucky is currently a 2.5 point favorite, the spread originally opened with Kentucky as a 3.5 point favorite.
Kentucky is going to have to have good guard play tonight on both ends of the floor. The twins and James Young are going to have to contain Napier and Boatright for UK to have a chance tonight. Napier is the leader for UCONN averaging 17.4 ppg. and 4.9 apg. Shabazz also averages 1.7 steals per game. Boatright is averaging 12.1 ppg and 3.4 apg.
Kentucky should win the battle of the boards and the inside game with Randle, Johnson, and Lee. I really don’t think UCONN can matchup with UK down low. DeAndre Daniels, who almost signed with UK is their best player inside averaging 13.2 ppg and 6 rpg. Look for Randle and Johnson to have big games tonight. Another key for Kentucky is the play of Alex Poythress off the bench. Alex played a key role Saturday night against Wisconsin, scoring 8 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
Kentucky only had 4 turnovers against Wisconsin, and they need to take care of the basketball again tonight. UK will also have to keep UCONN off the free throw line, the Huskies are shooting 77% on the year from the charity stripe.
