Kentucky and Michigan will square off today in Indianapolis for the right to go to the Final Four. The Wildcats and Wolverines haven’t played since 1993. Michigan started five freshman that year, just like Kentucky is doing this season.
Kentucky is currently a 2 point favorite. I can’t remember the last time an 8 seed was favored over a 2 seed in the regional finals. Kentucky has been the underdog the last two games and have performed great. Hopefully they can play just as good while being the favorite.
For starters Kentucky needs to come out of the gate clicking on all cylinders. They do not need to start the game shooting three pointers, get the ball inside. Kentucky has an advantage in the paint. Michigan doesn’t have the height Kentucky does. Kentucky’s height will be a problem for the Wolverines. Michigan is one of the best three point shooting teams in the country. Kentucky is going to have to keep the Wolverines from getting good looks from behind the arc.
Willie Cauley-Stein is doubtful for today’s game, so Dakari Johnson is going have to step up and have another game like he had against Louisville Friday night. Julius Randle should continue to dominate like he has the past two games, look for Randle to have another double-double.
James Young needs to be on the court for Kentucky, hopefully he can stay out of foul trouble today. Kentucky needs his shooting and defense. Andrew and Aaron will continue to lead this team, and look for Alex Poythress bring a spark off the bench for UK.
Prediction:
Prediction: Kentucky vs Michigan Kentucky 77 Michigan 71 Julius Randle MVP
