If you pay attention to twitter as much as I do, you will notice a lot of negative tweets about the PJ Washington injury.
There are actually people out there that think Washington is not playing because he is “weak” or “soft” and if they were PJ they would play with a prosthetic if they had the chance to play in the NCAA Tournament.
Blah, blah, blah….
PJ Washington Sr. spoke with Kyle Tucker of The Athletic and basically told them to relax.
But Washington’s father has a message for the suck-it-up-and-play crowd that seems to believe his son — who came back for another year with the Wildcats when so few five-stars do, who turned himself into an All-American and his team into a national title contender during this sensational sophomore season — is choosing to protect his NBA Draft stock over playing with his teammates in the most important games of the season.
“People who say that, I don’t think they’ve ever had a kid in that situation,” Paul Sr. told The Athletic on Friday afternoon. “This isn’t about his draft stock, and it isn’t about Kentucky. It’s about making sure my son is healthy. I would say those people just gotta try to be a parent in this situation and stop being a fan. And just relax.”
He went on to say something everyone should think about before they tweet foolishness about PJ:
“I’m not a doctor,” he said, “and the coaches aren’t doctors. Let’s leave this to the doctors and treat my son like he’s your own son, OK?”
