“Always got to protect 77 at all costs,” Washington told ESPN. “So I mean obviously it was a hard foul and then he pushed him afterwards, so I was right there and I just had to step into it.”
The Mavericks cruised to a 101-90 win to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Doncic led the way with 22 points. Washington chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Westbrook was 0-for-7 from the field and finished with just 1 point in 19 minutes.
