Kentucky cruised past Pikeville 116-68 in the first exhibition game of the season. UK’s two-platoon system proved too much for the Bears, with the Cats leading by as many as 49 points. The Cats shot 65.3 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 49-28. Six Cats scored in double-figures with each playing less than 20 minutes.
Karl-Anthony Towns led Kentucky with 22 points on 10-11 shooting. Pikeville’s K.K. Simmons had a game-high 28 points, including 6 three-pointers.
Kentucky’s next exhibition game is Sunday Nov. 9 vs. Georgetown College at 7 p.m. at Rupp Arena.
