Nick Ruthsatz scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead Covington Catholic to a 59-51 win over Scott Co. in the Boys’ Sweet Sixteen State Final. Ruthsatz also had 5 assists and 3 steals and was named Sweet 16 MVP. Mark Schult added 12 points and 6 rebounds. The State Championship is the first for the Colonels.
Hines Jones led Scott Co. with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tony Martini had 16 points, 17 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Usually sharp-shooting Trent Gilbert struggled in the loss, going just 4-25 for 10 points.
