The Kentucky Wildcats couldn’t overcome a fast start by Robert Morris Tuesday night and the Colonials rushed the court on their way to the second round of the NIT.
It shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise it ended the way it did for Kentucky. The other team hit shots, mostly from the perimeter, and Kyle Wiltjer missed a shot to win the game. Ryan Harrow only played 9 minutes. Alex Poythress was timid, scoring 6 points and found 2 rebounds. Sound familiar?
Here is a look at the game from my seat and shots from the endzone by AllKYHoops.com’s correspondent Brian Bevins in the Chuck.
After the game, there was the press conference where John Calipari had mic problems, but didn’t seem to mind:
After the presser, the media was allowed enter the locker room and talk to the players:
As you will see, my camera didn’t want to stop recording Alex Poythress.
The night didn’t end there for me, as a friend and I traveled about 20 minutes to downtown Pittsburgh to check out PNC Park and Heinz Field.
Juat a heads up, if you want to check PNC Park at night, don’t get too close to the gate because a loud voice which sounds like the robot on Lost in Space will tell you the authorities have been called.
That was the fastest I had moved in a while.
A couple of trips to Primanti Brothers, watched Julius Randle pick Kentucky on ESPNU in the Meadows Racetrack Casino, where I played a Dukes of Hazzard slot machine.
Fun couple of days to end the basketball season, and even though I would have loved to cover the next NIT game in Rupp Arena, it seemed like the perfect ending to a not so perfect season.
