Patriot Women’s Basketball Team Hosts Shootouts

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot Ladies Basketball program was this past week as they hosted their Inaugural One Day Shootout Camps in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. The camp featured schools from across the local region of Kentucky as well as a couple of teams from Tennessee and Virginia.

The camp was a two-day camp for both varsity and junior varsity high school basketball teams. This camp would also serve as an official’s rules clinic for high school referees across the 13th region of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA).

The two day high school shootouts are a growing trend across the nation. This was the first time that the Patriot ladies hosted a camp of this structure and with the overwhelming success, Cumberlands hopes to add more teams next year as they look to make this a yearly event.

Head Patriot Women’s Basketball Coach Melissa Irvin commented, “This camp is a great opportunity to get teams and girls that we are interested in recruiting from to the area and get noticed and put their talent out on the court.”
