Patrick Patterson heads into his 3rd NBA season and has come a long way from starting in the developmental league his rookie season.
Now it sounds like he is going to be starting for the Houston Rockets.
The preseason also will be about final evaluations on contract decisions. The Rockets have until Oct. 31 to extend the contracts of Patrick Patterson, JaJuan Johnson and Marcus Morris for the 2012-13 season.
Patterson is likely to be the starting power forward. Morris and Johnson were first-round picks in 2011, and it is exceedingly rare for teams not to exercise their first options on extending rookie contracts.
This will be a big year for Patrick Patterson to show what he can do as a starter in an 82 game schedule.
