One Kentucky Wildcat Listed on The Sporting News Mid-Season All American Teams

mizzou3

The Sporting News has announced their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Midseason All American teams today.

Kentucky has one player that was mentioned.

Willie Cauley-Stein is on the 1st team.

Cauley-Stein has been repositioned as a power forward because of his uncommon mobility at his size and often is deployed defensively against high-scoring wings. His statistics may be meager – and if he’s a first-teamer at the end, they could be unprecedented – but his impact is enormous.

Cauley-Stein averages only 25 minutes, but that has increased of late. Usually at this point in the season one expects statistics will begin to deteriorate because the flood of Montana States and Columbias turns into a steady diet of Floridas and Alabamas. But it would be, honestly, a surprise if we don’t see Cauley-Stein’s production increase. Kentucky is going to need him on the floor.
