The last couple of days have seen some roster changes around the SEC, some Kentucky kids getting some attention and Coach Cal has been on the trail as well.
Oh, and Andrew Wiggins is still out there.
Here are a couple of notes to catch you up on what is going on:
Alabama shooting guard Trevor Lacy has decided to transfer after 2 seasons at Alabama. If you remember, Kentucky was a possibility for Lacy and was in his final couple of schools. Lacy cited family reasons for leaving the Crimson Tide and i see that as very interesting since I believe that is the reason he picked his home state school. It will be interesting to see what direction he takes in picking his next school.
Camron Justice, shooting guard from Knott County Central, received an offer from Northern Kentucky University according to his AAU team’s, the Travelers, twitter account. Justice has already received an offer from Tennessee.
Pikeville’s Ray Kasongo, a 6’8″ power forward, will reclassify to 2014 as he will play at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin according to Panthers’ head coach Bart Williams. Kasongo was one of the most athletic players I watched all season and he displayed that winning the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Dunk Contest. Kasongo is also on the Kentucky-Indiana All Star Series roster. Hopefully the Canadian works hard on his academics and keeps improving his game to make it to the next level.
Here is a Kasongo dunk during the Ohio-Kentucky game:
UCLA 2013 commit Allerick Freeman has decided to open up his recruitment. Freeman joins Andrew Wiggins as the only top players to not be committed to a college.
John Calipari visited top 2015 recruit Charles Matthews yesterday at St. Rita High School in Chicago. Matthews is considered one of the top shooting guards in the ’15 class and is ranked #11 overall by ESPN.
Here is a look at Matthews:
Hopkinsville’s Jordan Majors is working out for a ton of schools today according to head coach Tim Haworth. Western Kentucky, Murray State, Evansville, Tennessee Tech, SEMO, Wright State, Austin Peay, Kentucky Wesleyan and Florida Tech will all watch the 6’2″ shooting guard. He worked out for Eastern Kentucky head coach Jeff Neubauer last night and Haworth said “Everything went really well.” Majors is also a potential UK walk on.
Also heard from a source that Morehead State is very interested in Ironton, Ohio point guard Zac Carter. The 5’9″ senior had 12 points in the Ohio win over Kentucky in the All-Star game at Thomas More College.
Russ Smith is returning to Louisville for his senior season, which will make the 40-0 dream of John Calipari that much tougher.
Oh, and here is the latest on the Andrew Wiggins recruitment. Click here to check it out.
