Names to get Familiar with in Kentucky Football Coaching Search

Could Neal Brown be on the list as the next head coach at Kentucky?

Speculation is rampant of the names Mitch Barnhart could possibly be looking at as the next head football coach at the University of Kentucky.

Eric Crawford of WDRB.com has compiled a list that he says sources have named as possible candidates for the job.

A couple of names we have already discussed in the Kentucky Football coaching search: David Cutcliffe, Bobby Petrino, Phillip Fulmer, Sonny Dykes, and Tommy Tuberville.

Some of the names we haven’t mentioned that might be in the mix are Butch Jones(Cincinnati head coach), Dirk Koetter(OC Atlanta Falcons), Frank Solich(Ohio U head coach), Kirby Smart(Alabama DC), and Willie Taggart(WKU Head coach).

The one name that Crawford says is thinking outside the box that intrigues me the most is Boyle County native and Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown. Brown has a high powered offense, which I think is a necessity of the next head coach at Kentucky. I have also heard that he is very interested in the job, but the only problem is I doubt Mitch will hire someone without any head coaching experience, which Brown does not have.

There are many names out there for sure, and to get a jump on Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas, who are all likely to be looking for head coaches soon, Mitch will probably move quickly on hiring someone.

Who do you want as the next head coach?
