Win or lose tomorrow night and the Racers are in the NCAA Tournament. If you’re doing a bracket this season, Murray State is a team that can legitimately pull off an upset or two.

In the second semifinal game, Morehead State was in control for 25 minutes but an intense pressing defense led to a Belmont comeback.

The Bruins stormed back to take their first lead of the game midway through the final half. From there, the teams went back and forth with Morehead seeming to be in good shape in the final minute.

Belmont came up with a big steal late and Ben Sheppard hit what appeared to be the game-winning three-pointer with just over 7 seconds to play. Unfortunately, Belmont called a timeout just before it left his hands and the shot did not count.

After the timeout, Johni Broome blocked a three-pointer at the buzzer to preserve a 53-51 Morehead State victory.

Broome led the Eagles (23-10) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sheppard finished with a game-high 19 points for the Bruins (25-7).

The Racers and Eagles will tip it up for all the marbles tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN2.

Personal note: I graduated from Morehead State (twice) but I sincerely want to congratulate the Racers on a hell of a season. That being said…go Eagles!
