As has often been the case lately, there were multiple reports of positive coronavirus cases in the professional sports world today.
The news, however, isn’t all bad.
First, let’s take a look at the reports from today:
– Major League Baseball reported that 31 players and 7 staff members tested positive for coronavirus.
– The Miami Heat closed their training facility after a second player tested positive for COVID-19 today.
– NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson will miss this weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after testing positive for the virus.

More positive tests are inevitable, but it is encouraging that that only 38 out of 3,185 players and staff in MLB tested positive. That seems to be a step in a the right direction as the league prepares to start up soon.
Players in the NBA have tested positive at a significantly higher rate, but the league has been proactive with testing which will hopefully eradicate the disease prior to the NBA’s restart later this month.
As for Jimmie Johnson, well wishes on a speedy recovery. Hopefully his case was caught early and other teams will not be affected.
