Mitch Barnhart Wants Nothing To Do with 9 SEC Games

Kentucky Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart doesn’t think it would be a good idea for football team to play 9 SEC games each season.

Not hard to figure that one but Barnhart gives his reasons:

“History says it’s very difficult for us to have the level of depth, the second, third, fourth lines of players, that some of the other schools in our league have just as a means of their in-state recruiting situations,” Barnhart said. “When we have to play a long line of league games, it’s a grind, our teams can get beaten up physically. It’s better for us, for our players, when the schedule allows us to have some so-called breathers, so that our kids can sort of restore themselves physically in-season.”

The probability of gaining another league game is probably not in Kentucky’s favor, especially with the SEC Network launching in the coming years.

Mark Stoops will definitely get a taste of SEC Football if this happens and hopefully it isn’t more than he can chew.
