Mike DeCourcy Observes Kentucky Basketball

julius-randle

Mike DeCourcy has some good observations of this Kentucky basketball team after watching practice. He seems to really like Julius Randle.

It is a good thing there is so much extra hardwood on the ground floor of Kentucky’s Joe Craft Center, because they need all the room they can get to accommodate the squad for the wind sprints customary in a preseason basketball practice.

For the first time since his initial preseason at UK in 2009, John Calipari has a lot of bodies. More than that, he has a lot of players.

That meant there was a lot to see when Sporting News took in an afternoon practice, and there’ll be plenty for Wildcats fans to enjoy Friday night at the program’s Big Blue Madness celebration:

Oh, here we go with the comparisons. Watching 6-9 Julius Randle muscle his way into lefthanded jump-hooks throughout the afternoon, even when he was rolling into his left shoulder—I swear I saw this happen at least once—it was impossible not to recall the adventures of Michael Beasley in his one year at Kansas State.
