John Pennington of MrSec.com has a good article about the progress second year SEC head coaches have made.
Here is what he had to say about Kentucky.
Kentucky surprised most everyone in SEC country by battling Florida into overtime at the Swamp this past weekend. Neal Brown’s Air Raid offense has taken wing with quarterback Patrick Towles at the controls. The Cats currently rank fourth in the SEC in passing yards per game (320.3). There are only five seniors listed as starters on Stoops’ offense.
A season ago the Wildcats had already lost two games to Western Kentucky and Louisville with lone win over Miami (OH). Their starting quarterback spot was a revolving door. That’s no longer the case.
From a recruiting standpoint, Jones and Stoops have gotten off to hot starts. Tennessee finished with a consensus top five class a season ago and they’re currently sitting on a top 10 class for 2015.
Kentucky — selling nothing but hope and dreams — landed the nation’s #17 class a year ago according to Rivals. UK is currently ranked 30th, but that’s still a heckuva step up from the days of Joker Phillips and even Rich Brooks. Stoops has also managed to tap into his home state of Ohio, a must for the Wildcat program.
