Mark Stoops Gets First Win as Wildcats Pound Miami, Ohio

Kentucky’s Air Raid was back in full swing this week as they pounded Miami, Ohio 41-7 for head coach Mark Stoops first win as a head coach.

Maxwell Smith and Jalen Whitlow shared time behind center and both led the offense to multiple touchdowns.

Smith finished 15 for 23 for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jalen Whitlow was 10 for 12 with 103 yards and rushed 7 times for 48 yards and a touchdown.

The receivers had a big day as well, especially the young wideouts, which were led by Javess Blue’s 6 catches for 114 yards and a 88 yard touchdown reception.

Jeff Badet had 3 catches for 80 yards, which included a 56 yard touchdown reception. Jonathan George had 1 catch for 48 yards, which was also a touchdown pass.

Ryan Timmons had a nice game as well, finishing with 37 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving.

The defense also looked a lot better, and whether it was because the Redhawks were really bad or not, they looked very much improved from last week’s WKU debacle.

Besides a rough day from the special teams, which gave up the only Miami touchdown, it was an overall good day for the boys in blue.

Kentucky will host Louisville next week at 12 pm at Commonwealth Stadium.
