Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops earned an automatic one-year contract extension with tonight’s win at Missouri.
Stoops’ contract states that he receives a one-year extension each season that his team wins seven games.
He also earned a $250,000 bonus.
Here are more details from the Courier-Journal:
Per the terms of his contract, Stoops nets an automatic one-year extension anytime the Wildcats win seven games. It’s the second consecutive year Stoops has locked in the extension, meaning his deal, signed in March 2017, now runs through June 2024.
The win also netted Stoops a $250,000 bonus. He will receive another $250,000 bonus for each UK win for the rest of the season. Stoops could earn up to $3.1 million in bonuses for an undefeated national championship season in any year, giving him the largest maximum bonus of any FBS public university coach, according to a USA Today database.
Should Kentucky get to 10 wins this season, Stoops contract would be extended by another year, per the terms of the deal.
