Kentucky head coach Mark Pope was clearly dejected after last night’s loss to Arkansas.
Pope told the media after the game how upset his players were, but noted they have to put it behind them quickly as yet another top 25 game is coming up on Tuesday.
“Congrats to Arkansas,” Pope said in his opening statement. “I thought they played great basketball tonight. Played
really tough, really hard. Our guys are pretty disappointed. Complicated stretch for us but I thought for most of the night we showed a ton of fight and we have a good group.”
Here is Pope commenting on Arkansas making 13 three-pointers vs. the Wildcats:
Perhaps the most alarming comments by Pope were about starting point guard Lamont Butler.
“I just don’t know. I’m not sure. We are trying to just navigate the space,” Pope said when asked about the long term outlook on Butler’s injury. “There’s a lot to it because I’m not going to share because it’s his stuff. We are trying to figure out how to proceed right now. We will see, I would tell you more, but we just really genuinely don’t know yet. We’ll figure out more in the next couple of weeks.”
