According to reports, former Georgia coach Mark Fox is already among a group of finalists for the open job at Utah State.
Murray State head coach Matt McMahon is also mentioned as a candidate:
Utah State athletic director John Hartwell has scheduled as many as five interviews this week at a centralized location in his search for a basketball coach, according to sources in Logan.
Mark Fox, recently fired after nine years as Georgia’s coach, and longtime Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd are believed to be among the coaches Hartwell is pursuing. Head coaches Barret Peery of Portland State, Jim Les of UC Davis and Matt McMahon of Murray State in Kentucky also may be in the mix.
Washington assistant coach Dave Rice, formerly UNLV’s head coach and an assistant at USU and BYU, has told people close to him that he’s not getting the job, a source said. Rice had interest in the position, but was not interviewed.
