Lindsey Wilson Volleyball announces 2015 schedule

Blue Raiders are scheduled to play 14 times at Biggers Sports Center in 2015

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 2015 Lindsey Wilson volleyball schedule was released by head coach Andy Cavins on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders are coming off a tremendous season in 2014, finishing the year with a 35-5 overall record and a perfect 14-0 mark in Mid-South Conference play while advancing to the NAIA National Championship knockout stage for the first time in program history.

A total of 33 matches including 14 at home inside Biggers Sports Center are on the slate for 2015.

The season begins with a trip to Mishawaka, Ind., to open the season on Aug. 21 at a tournament hosted by Bethel (Ind.). Lindsey Wilson opens the day against Warner (Fla.) followed by a match with Ashford (Iowa) in the nightcap. The tournament concludes as the Blue Raiders battle host Bethel and Doane (Neb.) on the final day.

Lindsey Wilson begins play at home on Aug. 27 as part of the inaugural Lindsey Wilson Classic tournament. Over 15 teams will compete across three days at both Biggers Sports Center and the Holloway Health and Wellness Center. The Blue Raiders face Point Park (Pa.), Northwestern Ohio, IU-East (Ind.) and Grace (Ind.) during the tournament.

Mid-South Conference play begins on Sept. 1 as Lindsey Wilson travels to Williamsburg, Ky., to battle Cumberlands (Ky.). The Blue Raiders will look to extend their 33-game MSC regular-season win streak that began back during the 2012 season.

Lindsey Wilson then travels to Columbia, Mo., on Sept. 4-5 to participate in the highly competitive Columbia (Mo.) Classic. The Blue Raiders face a gauntlet of opponents including defending national champion Park (Mo.) and perennial powerhouses Missouri Baptist and host Columbia, along with Wayland Baptist (Texas). All four teams were ranked in the postseason poll in 2014.

Another road MSC match against Pikeville (Ky.) is scheduled for Sept. 10 before a return trip to Biggers Sports Center to welcome MSC newcomer and first-year program Life (Ga.) for a doubleheader match on Sept. 12.

The Blue Raiders remain at home for a Sept. 15 meeting with St. Catharine (Ky.). Next up is a trip to Lebanon, Tenn., to take on Cumberland (Tenn.) on Sept. 22 before Lindsey Wilson hosts Campbellsville (Ky.) just two days later.

Lindsey Wilson hits the road for two games in two days taking on Georgetown (Ky.) on Sept. 30 followed by an Oct. 1 match at Shawnee State (Ohio) before returning to Columbia to host Pikeville and Cumberlands on Oct. 6 and 8.

After 10-straight MSC matches, the Blue Raiders take a break from conference play as they travel to Barbourville, Ky., for matches against Point (Ga.) and Union (Ky.) on Oct. 10, followed by another non-conference match against Asbury (Ky.) on Oct. 16.

MSC play resumes on Oct. 20 with a trip to St. Catharine, followed by a visit to Campbellsville two days later.

Oct. 27 begins a four-game homestand against IU-Southeast (Ind.), Cumberland, Georgetown and finally Shawnee State on Nov. 7 for Senior Day in the home finale.

The Blue Raiders conclude the 2015 regular-season on the road with a non-conference match against Brescia (Ky.) on Nov. 9.
