COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball team defeated Robert Morris (Ill.) 76-53 in the final game of the Lindsey Wilson College Classic on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.
Lindsey Wilson improves to 6-4 on the year with the two wins in the classic over the weekend. Robert Morris also comes in at 6-4, falling in both games this weekend.
In the first half, neither team could connect on a field goal until the 17:02 mark when Robert Morris scored the first basket of the game. The Eagles hit two more field goals to build a 6-0 lead, but Lindsey Wilson started to find a rhythm with 15:45 to play in the first half scoring eight straight points to take an 8-6 lead with 14:09 to play in the first half.
With the score tied at 13, D’on Hall ignited the team by scoring eight-straight points, which was part of a 19-7 run to help Lindsey Wilson take a 32-20 lead at halftime.
Lindsey Wilson shot 51.9 percent from the field compared to 33.3 percent by the Eagles. Both team managed to make just one three-point field goal attempt in the opening 20 minutes of play.
In the second half, each team traded buckets early. Bryan Wallace hit a field goal, followed by two free throws from Kevin Bradshaw. After the Tigers converted two free throws, Julian Edmonson connected on a three-point basket to give Lindsey Wilson a 41-25 lead with 17:53 to play in the game.
Robert Morris was able to chip away at the Blue Raiders lead scoring a two-point basket, followed by a three-point field goal. The basket cut the deficit to 11 at 47-36 with 13:47 remaining in the game.
Tony Horne and Edmonson then sparked the Blue Raiders toward a 24-9 run in 10 minutes to lead by 26, which was their largest lead of the game. Lindsey Wilson led 71-45 with 3:30 left to play.
Edmonson led the Blue Raiders with 18 points including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Hall had 14 points and six rebounds, while Quentin Purtue and Horne also scored in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively.
Bradshaw finished with two points, but added nine rebounds for the game, which was one shy of his season-high.
Lindsey Wilson shot 49.2 percent for the game, including 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. The Blue Raiders held Robert Morris to 31.1 percent from the field.
Earlier in the night, No. 19 Campbellsville defeated Voorhees (S.C.) by a 94-73 margin. Damontre Harris led the Tigers with 21 points in the win.
The Blue Raiders’ next game is on Dec. 4 when they host Campbellsville (Ky.). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT.
