Lindsey Wilson Men’s Basketball opens 2014-15 season against No. 4 Benedictine in Campbellsville on Saturday; hosts Ohio State-Mansfield Sunday
Blue Raiders face Benedictine in the Lou Cunningham Classic before their home opener with OSU-Mansfield
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball team starts its 2014-15 season against No. 4-ranked Benedictine (Kan.) on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Lou Cunningham Classic in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
On Sunday, the Blue Raiders host Ohio State-Mansfield in the home opener at Biggers Sports Center at 2 p.m. CT.
Following a 2013-14 season in which they finished at 16-15 overall and 7-11 in Mid-South Conference play, the Blue Raiders face a preseason top-five program on Saturday.
Lindsey Wilson returns eight players from last year’s team, including All Mid-South Conference Second Team selection D’on Hall. As a junior, Hall averaged 11.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in 31 appearances.
In addition to Hall, Tony Horne and Keshaun Mayfield also return for the Blue Raiders.
Horne averaged 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game last season, while Keshaun Mayfield made 23 starts last season and averaged 8.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
One of the 10 newcomers for Lindsey Wilson this season is Julian Edmonson. As a junior at NCAA Division I Abilene Christian (Texas), Edmonson averaged 11.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Squaring off against Lindsey Wilson on Saturday are the Benedictine Ravens. This past season, Benedictine went 23-9 overall and advanced to the second round of the NAIA Division I National Championship.
The Ravens return Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year Jallen Messersmith. As a junior, Messersmith finished second nationally with 75 blocks total.
Saturday’s matchup will feature live stats.
On Sunday, the Blue Raiders play in their home opener against the Ohio State-Mansfield Mavericks. In the two teams’ previous matchup, Lindsey Wilson defeated Ohio State-Mansfield, 113-59, on Nov. 2, 2013.
