Lexington Police Are Cracking Down on Couch Burning and Other Shenanigans This Season

Lexington police and UK campus police are preparing for celebrations as the Kentucky Wildcats advance deeper into the NCAA Tournament.

Police and fire officials are asking fans to celebrate responsibly. In other words, no burning couches and no flipping cars over.

Here is an excerpt from WKYT.com:

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe says, “We’ve got it down to a pretty good science over the last several years under Coach Calipari that we know what to expect.”

Police and fire officials are asking fans to celebrate responsibly. “Don’t trash the neighborhoods, don’t turn over cars, and don’t burn anything,” Chief Monroe said.

Lexington Police Chief Mark Barnard says “some young people feel invincible when they have alcohol, so those things are always going to happen.”

UK Students caught violating the code of conduct could potentially face sanctions by the school.

3,000 security cameras around campus will be monitoring and recording celebrations. Officers will also be wearing body cameras this year.
