A 16-year old Central High School student claims in a lawsuit that head football coach Marvin Dantzler forced him to strip down to his underwear, then walk half a mile to the school’s locker room.
Here are details from WDRB.com:
According to the complaint, the student said he had been warming up with other quarterbacks, when Dantzler “suddenly and in a secretive fashion” signaled to another coach. That coach then told the student that he was being removed from warm-ups.
According to the lawsuit, the student went back to the locker room weeping, composed himself, then returned to the field and asked Coach Dantzler if they could talk, but the coach refused. When the student pressed him, asking, “Why are you acting shady?” the coach allegedly responded by saying:
“I do not have to tell you anything, I don’t have to answer to nobody, you see that woman [pointing to a woman sitting in the stands] that is my wife, I do not have to tell her anything. You know what! Take my [EXPLETIVE] off, call you parents, and tell them to come and get you and take your [EXPLETIVE] home.”
At that point, the lawsuit says the student “did what he was told and took off the equipment,” leaving him with only his undershirt and his underwear.
“While standing in his undershirt and undergarment, with the imprint of his male genitals publicly showing, Student John Doe told Defendant Coach Dantzler that he needed to get into the main football locker room located at the school so he could get dressed and that he could not get into the locker room because he needed a key,” the lawsuit states.
Central just finished their season with a 3A state title. The championship game was largely overshadowed by a brawl that broke out between players from Central and Corbin High School.
