Larry Warford, Eric Dixon Named Game Captains vs. Missouri

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips has announced that senior offensive lineman Larry Warford and sophomore defensive back/special teams performer Eric Dixon have been named game captains for Kentucky’s Southeastern Conference matchup on Saturday at Missouri at Noon ET on ESPNU.

Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Warford is playing as well as any lineman they have ever coached, according to Phillips and position coach Mike Summers. He helped the Wildcats rush for a season high 206 yards last week vs. Georgia. The native of Richmond, Ky., has played in 43 career games and made 33 consecutive starts. This is the third time this season Warford has been named game captain also getting the honors for the Louisville and Georgia games. The senior is on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Trophy Watch Lists, while he was named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week after his performance vs. Kent State. Warford was also chosen second-team mid-season All-America and a first-team midseason All-SEC selection by Phil Steele’s College Football.

Dixon has provided UK a spark off the bench the last few weeks, getting most of his playing reps on special teams. The native of Mobile, Ala., has played in four games this season with four tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble forced. Last week against Georgia, Dixon gathered a career-best three tackles, including a seven-yard quarterback sack.

Warford and Dixon will join permanent game captains Matt Smith and Collins Ukwu at the pregame coin toss.
