Kentucky Junior Right-Hander Kyle Cody Tabbed Third-Team by Baseball America

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior right-handed pitcher Kyle Cody has been tabbed a third-team preseason All-America selection by Baseball America, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Cody was one of four starting pitchers honored on the third team. Baseball America’s annual preseason All-America team features polling of major league organizations’ scouting departments to vote on the team and make their selections based on performance, talent and professional potential.
This marks the third consecutive season that Kentucky has had a preseason All-America selection. UK has had a player earn preseason All-America honors 11 times since 1999, with Austin Cousino and AJ Reed earning the honor last season. Cody, Cousino, Reed and Chris Bisson are the only players in UK history to earn preseason All-America honors from Baseball America.
A 6-foot-7, 245-pound product of McDonnell Central High School, where he was the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year, Cody is rated as the 19th-best prospect available for the 2015 MLB Draft in the preseason by Baseball America. Despite missing 21 days due to injury in 2014, Cody posted a 4-0 record and a 2.84 ERA in 18 games and six starts, saving five games. In his two-year career, Cody has a 7-3 mark and a 4.05 ERA. In his two-year career in SEC play, Cody has a 3.29 ERA with three saves in 34 innings. During the summer, Cody dominated the Cape Cod League, earning the starting pitching nod in the CCBL All-Star Game.
Kentucky will open its 2015 season on Feb. 13 vs. Ball State in Wilmington, N.C., with first pitch slated for 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with Dick Gabriel voicing the action.
