Koby Brea Joins 1,000-Point Club And Other Postgame Notes From Kentucky’s Win Over Colgate

Kentucky improved to 9-1 on the season with a 78-67 victory over Colgate on Wednesday night.

During the game, senior Koby Brea joined the 1,000-point club for his career. He finished with a game-high 17 points.

Team Records and Series Notes

 Kentucky is 9-1 and Colgate is 2-9. 
 This is the first meeting between the two schools.
 Mark Pope is 196-109 as head coach including 9-1 at Kentucky.
 Next for Kentucky: Kentucky takes on the rival Louisville Cardinals, Saturday,
Dec. 14 at Rupp Arena. The action will tip at 5:15 p.m. and air on ESPN.
 
Team Notes

 Five Wildcats scored in double figures tonight.  It’s the sixth time in 10 games
that at least five Cats have hit double digits in scoring.
 Kentucky won the rebounding tonight, 46-35. UK has won or tied the rebounding
in all but one game this season.
 Kentucky used its size to win points in the paint, 40-24.
 Kentucky sent Colgate to the free-throw line for three attempts, fewest for a
Wildcat opponent since North Florida shot only two on Nov. 26, 2021. 
 Kentucky had a season-low six turnovers. 
 
Player Notes  

 Andrew Carr totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds, his second double-double of
the season and 13 th  of his career.
 Koby Brea tallied 17 points tonight, including 5 of 8 on 3-pointers.
o He surpassed the 1,000-point mark in career scoring and now has 1,013
points as a collegian.

 Otega Oweh scored 15 points and has hit double figures in every game this
season. He also led the Wildcats in assists with four. 
 Amari Williams had a season-high 15 points.
 Jaxon Robinson ended with 11 points, his fourth straight game in double
figures.  
 
In the First Half

 Kentucky’s starters were Koby Brea, Jaxson Robinson, Otega Oweh, Andrew
Carr and Amari Williams.  It is the first time this combination has been used.
 Brandon Garrison was the first substitution at 16:42.  
 Kentucky scored the first 17 points of the game, the Wildcats’ largest run since a
17-0 spurt in the 2023-24 season opener vs. New Mexico State.
 The Wildcats went cold for almost six minutes as Colgate responded with an 11-0
run.
 The Raiders stayed hot and closed within 38-36 at halftime on a 3-pointer at the
buzzer.  Brea led UK in the first half with 12 points, coming on 4-of-4 on 3-
pointers. 
 
In the Second Half

 Kentucky began the second half with the starters.
 Colgate kept it going and took its first lead, 41-40, on a 3-pointer at the 18:28
mark.
 Colgate increased the lead to three points, 45-42.
 Trailing 47-46, UK regained the lead with a quartet of 3-pointers – two by
Robinson, one by Trent Noah and one by Oweh to make it 58-47. 
 The Wildcats never trailed again, stretching the lead to as many as 18 points at
69-51.
