Knights hold off Generals in Jock Sutherland Classic

Lexington Catholic rallied back from as much as 18 points down to defeat Lafayette 81-79 in the Jock Sutherland Classic.  Robert Dence’s layup in the final seconds sealed the win for the Knights.

Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 22 points and 4 rebounds. Reese Ryan had 17  points and 4 assists.  Dence and Michael Talbott had 13 points each for the Knights. Dence also grabbed 8 rebounds.

Lance Blakely scored 28 points to lead the Generals’ effort. He had 6 rebounds and was 6-8 from beyond the arc. Jackson “Mr. Double-Double” Davis finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds to go with 4 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Harrison Lane had 11 points.

Prior to the game, Kentucky basketball legend and Hall of Fame Coach Jock Sutherland was recognized. Coach Sutherland brought his 1947 Lafayette letter sweater to display for the appreciative crowd.

Lexington Catholic travels to Dunbar  Feb. 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Lafayette hosts Bryan Station Feb. 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
