The Courier-Journal has an update on Louisville’s Kevin Ware’s status of missing a court date because of a wreckless driving allegation.
A Kentucky State Police officer clocked Ware doing 95 mph in a 2013 Dodge Challenger as he drove through a construction zone on I-65 South on Oct. 26, according to documents obtained from the Barren County Circuit Court clerk.
Ware’s court appearance was rescheduled for Nov. 25.
U of L spokesman Kenny Klein said he believed the car Ware was driving belonged to Matt Case, who told Klein he attends the University of Louisville. Later on Monday night, Case posted to his Twitter account:
“If you know me, then you also know me and Kevin are best friends and that I’m a current student at U of L, borrowing my car is a crime?”
On Case’s Facebook page, he listed himself as a U of L graduate and a partner at Eventris, a Louisville event management, marketing and production company. That title was deleted later in the night. The Kentucky secretary of state’s website lists Case as one of three organizers of Eventris LLC.
Case’s Facebook page also included pictures of him with numerous U of L athletes — and one with former UK forward Terrence Jones — as well as one on the sidelines at last year’s Sugar Bowl. Case did not respond to a Facebook message seeking comment.
NCAA bylaw 16.11.2.1 prohibits NCAA athletes from receiving any extra benefit as a result of their status. Klein said he did not know of any change in Ware’s playing status for U of L’s game against Hartford tonight. He said U of L would gather any appropriate information and review it.
Where there is smoke, there is fire, and there has been a bomb fire with Kevin Ware lately.
It will be interesting to see what happens with all of this.
