Kyle Tucker of The Athletic spoke to Kerry Blackshear Jr’s father, Kerry Blackshear Sr, and it sounds like the phone has lit up since Junior decided to put his name in to the Transfer Portal yesterday.
According to Blackshear Sr, the phone hasn’t lit up from Big Blue yet.
Despite reports the Wildcats have made contact — and there is reason to believe there at least has been an acknowledgement of interest between someone on UK’s staff and a member of Blackshear’s camp — neither John Calipari nor any of his assistants had spoken to Blackshear’s father, who is running point on this decision, as of dinnertime Tuesday. One source familiar with the recruitment said that was still true late Tuesday.
“I have not talked to Calipari. I have not talked to anyone there,” Blackshear Sr. said. “But if Kentucky called, they would be a viable option. Absolutely.”
