Kentucky will spend the next two weeks preparing for Florida

FL

The Kentucky Wildcats won’t play this week; they’ll resume their season on September 28th when they take on the Florida Gators, but Coach Mark Stoops knows he has a lot of issues and concerns before that matchup.

Coach Stoops admitted he will spend the two weeks preparing to face the Gators, and won’t try to get to the basics.  The Wildcats have a tremendously difficult span over the next three weeks of the schedule as they take South Carolina and Alabama in the following weeks after meeting with Florida.

Sophomore quarterback Maxwell Smith suffered a shoulder injury once again, but the good news for the team is that is not in the same area as previous injuries.  Despite the Wildcats are on a bye week there is always time to stay informed on the NCAA college football news, especially before a matchup like this one between two SEC rivals.

“Yeah, it’s my understanding that it’s not the exact same area as it was in the summer. I believe somebody had asked me earlier in the week if I was concerned because he had some issues in the past with hurting his arm strength and so on and so forth throughout the summer. But it’s my understanding that it’s a different part of the shoulder and that this shouldn’t have any effect on what has previously been hurt. So we’ll see how he progresses. He seems to be feeling good. He can throw the ball very lightly right now and has full range, so we’ll see how he goes throughout the week”, coach Stoops said in the press conference during the bye week.

Smith has led the Wildcats passing offense to be the 39th in the nation in terms of yards entering week 4 of college football, but the team hasn’t addressed whether he’ll be ready for game time.

Since 1995 Kentucky is 0-18 straight up vs. Florida and 5-12-1 against the spread in that same span.
