Senior becomes 12th Wildcat in the past six seasons to earn All-District honor

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky volleyball senior Jessi Greenberg was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Greenberg, who is a double major in International Strategic Communications and Marketing, owns a 3.94 grade point average and is scheduled to graduate in December. She was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the first time in her career last year and has been named to the Academic All-SEC team in each of the past three seasons.
This season, Greenberg has played in 18 matches with four starts. She has 37 digs on the year in addition to two service aces. For her career, she has amassed 567 digs, eight service aces and 37 assists.
First‐team Academic All‐District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.
Greenberg joins an impressive list of academic all-district honorees in the Craig Skinner era at UK. With her selection, she is the 12th Wildcat to earn all-district honors in the past six seasons. At least one Kentucky player has been named to the award list every season since 2008.
The Melbourne, Fla., native was also among 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS award, which looks to honor senior athletes who embody all that is a student-athlete focusing on community service, leadership, academics and on-court performance.
Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 13-14. UK is one of four sites selected for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in Seattle, Wash., from the Lexington Region. This marks the second time in three seasons Memorial Coliseum will host this premier volleyball event.
