Freed from the whims of its former coach, Kentucky played like the Wildcats of old in running through a seven-game November card unscathed.
They had two close calls, edging Miami (Ohio), 72-7,0 and beating Stanford in overtime in the Cancun Challenge.
In both instances there was a common denominator for the Wildcats—freshman guard John Wall.
Wall scored the game-winning jumper with less than a second remaining against Miami, then scored four points over the last 30 seconds of regulation to send the game against Stanford into the extra period.
Against North Carolina-Asheville, Wall had 14 assists to go with 12 points.
