Kentucky Stuns Mississippi State With Game-Winning Field Goal

The Kentucky Wildcats (4-3) survived a late Mississippi State touchdown and stunned the Bulldogs with a game-winning field goal as the final horn sounded.

In a back-and-forth game, State drove down and scored a go ahead touchdown with 1:09 to play. For many in Commonwealth Stadium, it had to be a familiar feeling…UK plays great, makes some untimely mistakes and ends up with a devastating loss. Not this time, however, as Stephen Johnson guided the team down the field to set up a 51-yard field goal attempt.

Austin MacGinnis trotted onto the field and calmly drilled a 51-yard game winner as time expired.

Benny Snell Jr. led the UK ground attack with 19 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. Boom Williams finished with 99 yards on 14 attempts.

Stephen Johnson went 17-33 for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns but also coughed up 2 untimely fumbles that led to MSU scores.

Jeff Badet hauled in 7 receptions for 139 yards and 2 scores. In doing so, Badet became the 26th player in UK football history to accumulate 1,000 career receiving yards.
