Kentucky Moves Up Eight Spots in CBS Sports Top 25 And One Rankings

Kentucky moved up eight spots in the updated CBS Sports Top 25 And One rankings this afternoon following the addition of West Virginia transfer Tre Mitchell to the Wildcats’ roster.

The top 10 remains unchanged at this time, with Kansas coming in at No. 1. Purdue, Duke, Florida Atlantic and Michigan State round out the top 5.

Here is an excerpt about the Wildcats:

They’re comfortably back in now, though.

That’s because, on Monday, former West Virginia standout Tre Mitchell publicly announced his commitment to Kentucky. When combined with last week’s announcement that Antonio Reeves is returning to UK, it’s enough to push the Wildcats up to No. 17 in Version 19.0 of the Top 25 And 1.

A possible UK starting lineup now looks like this:

G: Robert Dillingham
G: DJ Wagner
G: Antonio Reeves
G: Justin Edwards
F: Tre Mitchell
That’s a lineup with three five-star freshmen and two experienced pieces who have already averaged double-digits in points at the high-major level. Reeves averaged 14.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game last season at Kentucky. Mitchell averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 30.0 minutes per game last season at West Virginia.

17. Kentucky

This ranking is based on the Wildcats enrolling the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class featuring four five-star high school prospects – among them Justin Edwards, DJ Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw — plus West Virginia graduate-transfer Tre Mitchell. Those newcomers will pair with Antonio Reeves and give John Calipari a chance to make the Final Four for the first time since 2015.
