According to reports, Kentucky will be facing Northwestern (9-3) in the Music City Bowl in Nashville later this month.
According to the Tennessean:
Kentucky will return to the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl for the fifth time to play Northwestern, according to sources close to the bowl.
The 20th annual Music City Bowl will be played Dec. 29 (3:30 p.m., ESPN) at Nissan Stadium. An official announcement is expected at 3 p.m.
Kentucky (7-5, 4-4 SEC), the SEC representative, also played in the bowl in 1999, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
Kentucky also could have landed in the Liberty or Belk bowls.
It will be the first time for Northwestern (9-3, 7-2 Big Ten) to play in the game.
Northwestern also was a candidate for the Holiday Bowl.
