Kentucky Falls to WKU for 2nd Straight Season

UK Logo BLACK

Mark Stoops has worked miracles since he had been hired, changing the perception of Kentucky Football to recruits and igniting a fan base that had laid dormant the last couple of seasons.

There were no miracles in Stoops’ debut though as Western Kentucky beat the Wildcats 35-26 for their second straight win over the SEC school.

Kentucky’s offensive penalties and terrible defense aided the Hilltopper offense to 487 total yards. WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty was 27-34 yards and 1 touchdown.

The quarterback battle has definitely heated up as Maxwell Smith threw that ball very well in the 4th quarter, taking over for Jalen Whitlow, completing 8 out of 13 attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown. Whitlow did most of his damage on the ground, rushing 7 times for 81 yards and a touchdown. He was only 10-15 for 78 yards passing.

Mark Stoops said several times after the game that they have to get back to work and after seeing his team’s first game, he better get to it quickly.
