The Kentucky Wildcats were unable to get any offense going on a stout Iowa defense and came up short 21-0 in the Music City Bowl.
The Cats (7-6) had trouble moving the ball all day without several key starters in the lineup. The Kentucky defense played great, only allowing one touchdown in the game, but couldn’t overcome two pick sixes by the Hawkeyes.
Fresh quarterback Destin Wade, who was thrown into action after Will Levis opted out of the game, finished 16-for-30 for 98 yards. He also ran 16 times for 29 yards. Wade threw 2 interceptions that both resulted in Iowa touchdowns.
JuTahn McClain was the feature back in the absence of Chris Rodriguez, who also opted out of the bowl game. McClain carried the ball 10 times for 40 yards.
Mark Stoops placed blame for the performance on himself, admitting that he wanted to get a glimpse of the future:
